Fortis is part of Ageas Group (formerly Fortis Holding SA/NV), an insurance group of significant scale with 20 million customers and 11,000 employees worldwide. In 2009, the group reported a turnover of EUR 16 billion. Fortis Holding rebranded to Ageas in May 2010 reflecting its status as a stand alone international insurance group, following the disposal of it banking assets in 2009.
Fortis rebranding in the UK
In the UK, Fortis will rebrand to Ageas in a controlled way over a period of time with the plan to complete the process by Q1 2011. The proposed change of name does not affect Fortis customers or their policies in any way. Over time, policy documentation and other communication will change but it will not impact its customers' cover.
