Title : Senior Financial Analyst (6 month FTC)
Reports To : Head of Financial Control

Job Purpose:

To provide comprehensive support and challenge across the business on all finance related matters and be proactive in driving new initiatives forward.
Responsible for the production of the monthly Management and Financial Accounts and reports, and statutory returns.
To manage quarterly forecasting and annual planning processes.
Be responsible for delivering improvements to these processes and ensuring effective controls are in place.
Responsible for training and developing the Assistant Financial Accountant.
This role will involve close liaison with senior managers and Directors across the business.

 

Accountabilities:
  • Produce monthly Management Accounts Report which includes the P&L & Balance Sheet & supporting schedules, used by the Board, Exec & SMT to review RIAS’ financial performance.
  • Manage the quarterly forecasting process and annual planning process.
  • Develop & build income, cost and interest budget and forecasting models and liaise with the business on assumptions and drivers.
  • Develop and maintain Strategic and Project spend reporting and control.
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements and other statutory returns, required to meet legislation.
  • To be the principal point of contact and act as the Finance Business Partner to specific business functions on all aspects of finance activity. This will require an in depth knowledge of the cost drivers and business performance metrics within the business functions. In addition it will require influence of senior mangers and Directors in the business.
  • Responsible for ensuring correct monthly accounting, aswell as sufficient and effective controls in place for expenses in areas of responsibility. Prepare monthly accounts for each area.
  • Provide in depth analysis and challenge of expenses with budget holders, creation of monthly commentaries and provide functional specific insight to Director reviews.Prepare monthly income accounts for key systems ensuring effective controls are in place. Be able to provide in-depth analysis on income for commentary and as required for ad hoc queries.
  • Drive Finance process improvements and develop ways of operating more efficiently across the team.
  • Responsible for reviewing balance sheet control accounts to identify potential transaction errors that may affect the Company’s profitability or misstate its assets or liabilities.
  • Ensure sufficient and effective controls in place within the finance processes.
  • Control Capital Expenditure reporting and forecasting.
  • Ad hoc analysis / projects.
  • Take responsibility for delivery of internal audit actions.
  • Member of the Management Forum
  • Responsible for training and development of the Assistant Financial Accountant.
  • Provide support as required to the Finance Director, Head of Financial Control & the Finance team in meeting reporting deadlines and any required adhoc analysis and reporting.
Essential Competencies:
  • Qualified accountant with strong Financial accounting experience
  • Experience of working in the finance function within a medium to large company
  • Prior experience of budgeting and forecasting
  • Analytical skills in problem solving and decision making
  • Strong excel skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence at Senior Manager & Director level
