RIAS COLLEAGUES MAKEOVER FLEMING FULTON SCHOOL’S GARDEN
Colleagues give 144 hours to support local community with a two day transformation and £300 donation
Employees at local over 50s insurance provider, RIAS, got into the community spirit for Fleming Fulton School, working over two days to transform the school’s gardens and playground areas. 11 employees from RIAS’ Springvale Road site collaborated with The Landscape Centre at Donegore and Drum House Nurseries in Belfast to give the school’s environment a transformation.
The first day saw RIAS employees from across Sales, Human Resources, Learning and Development, and IT functions work tirelessly to give the nature trail and pond areas in the school’s ground a makeover. Concentrating on clearing away weeds, cutting down overgrown plants and cleaning all the outdoor play equipment, the RIAS team made a fantastic start to benefit all the children.
During the second visit to Fleming Fulton School, catering for children with a wide range of physical disabilities between the ages of 3 and 19 years of age, the RIAS team tidied up the memorial garden by clearing leaves and planting the kindly donated colourful bedding shrubs in the entrance flowerbeds.
RIAS has also donated £300 to the school, with the children choosing which games and outdoor activities they would like the funds to go on.
Carol Collins, Head of Sales at RIAS Belfast comments: “We are absolutely thrilled that our colleagues have given their time and made such a great contribution to Fleming Fulton School. Our colleagues really got into the gardening sprit, and it was great to join forces with other local businesses to make a real difference. It’s fantastic to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause that supports many children in our community.”
Eddie McGlinchey, Vice Principal at Fleming Fulton School said: “We are extremely grateful to the RIAS colleagues who took the time out to support us. The children have been so excited about the transformation that has occurred.”
