Gender Ruling Advice

The European Court of Justice has announced that the use of gender based risk pricing in insurance will no longer be permitted from 21 December 2012.  RIAS customers do not need to worry as this does not impact existing RIAS policies in any way.  The ruling applies to all insurers in the UK market.

Currently, insurers apply different premiums, policy terms and benefits to men and women across a range of products based on proven statistical gender differences. For example, young women usually pay much less for their motor insurance than young men based on their respective safety records.

As an over 50s insurance intermediary, we will work with our insurance partners during the interim period up to December 2012 to ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption to our customers.
