In an emergency, first check that the circumstances are covered by your policy. Having done that telephone Europ Assistance stating your name and policy number.

Your policy can be extended for up to 17 days in total, during the period of insurance for winter sports on payment of an additional premium. If you are 65 years or under you'll be covered for skiing and snowboarding when on a piste or on a recognised area. This optional extra cover also covers financial loss from unused ski passes, ski -school fees as well as unused ski packs if you are certified as unable to ski. There are some activities that are excluded such as bobsleighing and heli-sking. Your policy can be extended for up to 31 days for golf cover on payment of an additional premium. This optional extra will cover golf equipment that is under three years old of up to £1,000 per insured person, and non-refundable golfing fees of up to £300 per insured person. We even provide you with an additional benefit of £150 in the event of you scoring a hole-in-one on your trip. A great new enhancement to the travel insurance product is End Supplier Failure. This means that your travel arrangements are covered against insolvency. Each insured person will receive up to £4,000 in total, for sums paid in advance which can’t be claimed elsewhere.

Some arrangements could include:

• Scheduled airlines
• Hotels
• Car ferries
• Villa and Cottage owners
• Railway journeys including the Eurostar
• Coach journeys
• Cruises not bonded
• Car hire
• Caravan sites / campsites / mobile homes
• Camper rental
• Safaris
• Excursions
• Eurotunnel
• Theme parks such as Disneyland Paris
