What do I need to be able to use a Ring video doorbell?

To use the Ring doorbell, you’ll need a suitable strength Wi-Fi and to download the Ring app to your smart device and set up an account.  This is free and the Ring Doorbell does not require a paid subscription to use its standard features, for instance to see a live view of who’s at your door, have a chat via two-way audio, or receive instant alerts and notifications.

If you want to save, share, or review recordings from your video doorbell, you will need to sign up for a paid Ring Protect subscription plan via Ring, prices for which currently start from £3.49 per month. However, the doorbell comes with a free 30-day subscription to Ring Protect, so you do have the opportunity to try this at no cost and with no obligation to buy.

Please note, if you don’t own your property, you’ll need to seek permission from your landlord or housing provider before our charity partner can fit one for you.
