Flybe - Cover under Rias Travel Insurance

Following the recent news that Flybe has gone into administration, we have provided this article to explain how Rias customers who are affected can pursue recovery.

In the first instance, you should contact your credit/debit card provider.

Credit Card Refunds

Customers who paid using a credit card should contact their credit card provider for reimbursement for services not received.

Debit Card Refunds

Customers who paid using a debit card will need to submit a claim directly with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Under the Rias travel policy, although there is general exclusion that states that there is no cover in respect of:

Any claim that results from the tour operator, airline, or any other company, firm, or person not being able or not being willing to carry out any part of their obligation to you.

This exclusion does not apply to valid claims under the End Supplier Failure section, where there is cover in two parts:

  • For irrecoverable sums both paid in advance and prior to departure in the event of the insolvency of the end supplier where such sums do not form part of an inclusive holiday.

Or;

  • In the event of the insolvency of the end supplier after departure, there is cover for additional pro rata costs that you incur in replacing that part of the arrangements to an equivalent standard to that originally booked or the cost of return transportation to the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man of an equivalent standard to that originally booked if the cutting short of a journey is unavoidable.

Please see the Rias travel policy wording for further information, and the terms and conditions that apply.

Flybe have issued the following advice:

If you are due to fly with Flybe, please DO NOT TRAVEL TO THE AIRPORT unless you have arranged an alternative flight with another airline. Please note that Flybe is unfortunately not able to arrange alternative flights for passengers.

If you have a booking sold by another airline that includes travel on a Flybe flight, please contact the relevant airline or travel agent to confirm if there is any impact to your travel plans.

Customers are also advised to monitor the Civil Aviation Authority website for further information (www.caa.co.uk).

If you require any further information or assistance, please contact the Administrators by phone on 020 7951 7801 or by email at flybeadministration@uk.ey.com.
