FREE Ring Doorbell and Installation

Terms and Conditions

The Blue Lamp Trust (the “Trust”) will only fit a Ring battery operated video doorbell (2nd Generation) (“Ring Doorbell”) on specific request of a customer, who will sign to confirm that they agree to the below Conditions of Fitting:

a) The Ring Doorbell is being supplied and fitted by the Trust at no cost to the customer as part of the Ring Doorbell campaign run by Ageas (Ageas Insurance Limited and Ageas Retail Limited) and the Trust. Only one application for a Ring Doorbell per household.The ring doorbell is non-exchangeable,nor transferable and no cash alternative is offered.

b) All Ring Doorbells fitted by the Trust carry a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty from the date of fitting against faulty operation of the Ring Doorbell unit (“Manufacturer’s Warranty”). If, within the Manufacturer’s Warranty period, a technical fault or issue occurs with the Ring Doorbell unit, the customer should contact Ring Customer Services using the contact information provided to the customer on installation.

c) In addition to the Manufacturer’s Warranty, the Trust provides a 1-year warranty from the date of fitting, against faulty workmanship in the installation of the Ring Doorbell by the Trust (“Installation Warranty”). If, within the Installation Warranty period, a fault or issue occurs due to the installation of the Ring Doorbell, it should be advised to the Trust immediately using the contact information provided to the customer on installation.

d) If the Trust is unable to resolve any fault or issue with the Ring Doorbell unit caused by faulty installation, a replacement Ring Doorbell will be supplied and fitted by the Trust without charge to the customer.

e) The Trust will not remove any Ring Doorbell, other than in the case of an Installation Warranty claim, and then only with the specific written consent of the customer. The Trust will not be responsible for any damage caused to any building or other materials through the removal of the Ring Doorbell in any circumstances. The Trust will not charge for the removal of a Ring Doorbell through an Installation Warranty claim.

f) The Manufacturer’s Warranty and the Installation Warranty will both be voided should the Ring Doorbell be damaged or modified in any way by the customer or any other third party.

g) The customer understands that if they do not own the property, they will need to seek permission for the Trust to carry out the installation works in advance from their Landlord / Housing provider.

h) The customer understands that before the Ring Doorbell is fitted, the fitter will assess whether the property and/or location is suitable for the Ring Doorbell. The fitter may not fit a Ring Doorbell if for any reason they determine it is not suitable. For example, there is shared access or approach to the property which cannot suitably be eliminated from recording, or the Wi-Fi strength is not good enough. The fitter will explain to the customer the reason why the Ring Doorbell cannot be fitted.

i) The customer understands that they must have downloaded the Ring – Always Home App (“Ring App”) and set up a Ring account in advance of the fitting of the Ring Doorbell as per the email instructions provided by The Trust.

j) The customer understands that they will require a smart device (phone or tablet) that is compatible with Ring in order to download the Ring App. The smart device needs to be Android v9 and higher or IOS v14 and higher. Some newer model Huawei phones no longer come with the Google Play Store and may not be able to download the Ring App – customer should check whether their phone model supports the download of the Ring App.

k) The customer understands that a Wi-Fi connection is required for the operation of the Ring Doorbell and will need to have the Wi-Fi password available on the day of fitting.

l) The customer understands that they may need to reposition their Wi-Fi router close to the door or to purchase a booster if the Wi-Fi connection is not strong enough.

m) A Ring Doorbell does not require a paid subscription to use its standard features, the customer can use it to see a live view of who’s at their door, have a chat via two-way audio, and receive instant alerts and notifications. If the customer wants to save, share, or review recordings, they will need to sign up for a paid Ring Protect subscription plan via Ring at https://en-uk.ring.com/pages/protect-plans. The Ring Doorbell recording feature is not available for free. The Ring Protect Basic subscription is available from Ring at a cost of £3.49 per month or £34.99 per year.

n)The Ring Doorbell comes with a 30-day trial of the Ring Protect subscription plan, which means the customer can save, share and review recordings without incurring any costs for 30 days. After the trial period ends, the customer will need to set up and purchase an ongoing Ring Protect subscription from Ring if they want to continue to save and access the Ring Doorbell video footage. The customer accepts responsibility for setting up and purchasing an ongoing Ring Protect recording subscription from Ring if desired.

o) The Ring Doorbell will be fitted in position using screws and a mounting plate in a location agreed by the fitter and customer.

p) The customer understands that the fitter has recommended zoning settings for the customer, taking into account any privacy issues regarding neighbours and members of the general public.

q) The customer understands that the video recording on the Ring Doorbell can be restricted or zoned as per the instructions provided by the fitter, but the audio recording cannot be blocked out zoned or restricted in any way.

r) The customer understands that the Ring Doorbell unit fitted has a built-in rechargeable battery and that they are responsible for charging this. The Ring Doorbell is charged using a micro-USB cable and one is supplied in the box with the Ring Doorbell. To charge the battery on the Ring Doorbell, the customer will need to:

  1. remove the security screws at the base of the Ring Doorbell using the screwdriver tool supplied in the box with the Ring Doorbell and lift it up and away from the mounting bracket; and
  2. plug one end of the micro-USB cable into the port on the back of the Ring Doorbell device and the other end into a USB power source, such as a laptop or USB plug.

Please note that a USB plug is not supplied with the Ring Doorbell.

s) The customer is responsible for keeping a record of their Ring account details. The Trust will not keep a record of this.

t) The customer understands that the Trust do not supply a door chime or additional cameras as part of this offer. The customer will need to purchase these items from Ring if they wish to after installation.

u) The customer understands that the Trust does not give ongoing technical support for the Ring Doorbell after fitting. Technical support can be obtained via Ring directly using the contact details provided to the customer on installation.
